This awesome helmet liner shell is only one of three ever embarked upon. Years back a company called Normandy Accessories cast St Clair liners in a modern plastic that pickup all the detail and unique patterning of originals. I wasn’t totally satisfied with the final product, and made some “elbow grease” refinements.
Using the cast St Clair liner shell as a base, I modified it by smoothing the exterior with a great deal of sanding, as well as softening the rim’s curve. Finally a new eyelet was added as well as an interior and exterior coat, as is correct, of color matched dark green paint unique to these early liners. Finally, a correct yellow SC stamp was added to the crown.
This is a great restoration candidate, with all the hard labor having been done. You will simply need to purchase a rayon kit with fixed strap, or supply the shell to J Murray Inc for an install.
