This is an
amazing wartime photograph
of the B-29 Superfortress "Salvo Sally." Part of the 877th Bomb Squadron, 499th Bomb Group stationed on Saipan, this bomber participated in
dozens of bombing missions
in support of US Military forces, especially upon the homeland of mainland Japan. Unfortunately, this plane went down on April 28, 1945 and did not survive the war, making this picture one of the few taken before her demise. This photograph comes from an
original collection
brought home by a U.S. Navy sailor from Chicago who took several photographs of the bombers on Saipan while his ship was docked there. This is the
first time
these pictures have been made available to the public and can now
be a part of YOUR collection
!
The photograph will be printed on 8x10 glossy photo material to ensure the highest quality. These are hard to find pictures and are perfect for any military, aviation, or WWII collector!
