19 TROY OUNCES OF SOLID SILVER. GORGEOUSE 1910-1915, NEOCLASSICAL REVIVAL, EARLY ART DECO PERIOD, FRENCH SOLID SILVER DOUBLE SQUARE-SHAPED HANDLE SAUCE BOAT WITH FIXED OVAL MATCHING TRAY. STAMPED WITH THE MINERVA .950 STANDARD AND HG WITH A STAR FLANKED BY TWO GREEK CROSSES, A MARK FOR HENRI GAUTHIER. AN IMPORTANT SILVERSMITH WHO HAD A SHOP FROM 1902-1920 AT 29 RUE BEAUBOURG, PARIS. THE SET HAS A BEAUTIFUL RELIEF OF NEOCLASSICAL GREEK REVIVAL OLIVE LEAF AND BERRIES BORDER.THE HANDLES ARE GEOMETRIC ART DECO WITH PIERCED CIRCLES AND THE TOPS ARE DECORATED WITH APPLIED SQUARE ACANTHUS MEDALLIONS. THE SAUCE BOAT HAS A SOFT FLUTED SHAPE. THE TRAY IS ENGRAVED WITH A PERIOD MONOGRAM ON BOTH SIDES. THE BOTTOM HAS THE ORIGINAL MATCHING SOLID SILVER SCREW THAT KEEPS THE TWO PIECES TOGETHER AND BEAUTIFUL HAND-HAMMER MARKS AS SEEN IN PHOTOS. THE SET STANDS 3 3/4 INCHES TALL INCLUDING THE EXTENDED HANDLES. THE TRAY MEASURES JUST OVER 9 3/4 INCES LONG AND 6 1/4 INCES WIDE. TOTAL APPROX. WEIGHT IS 19 TROY OUNCES. STAMPED WITH BOTH MINERVA AND MAKER ON THE SAUCE BOAT AND AGAIN ON THE TRAY. EXCELLENT CONDITION. NO DENTS, OR DAMAGE.
